Ms. Danis

Marie completed her Bachelor of Arts in the field of Psychology at Wells College in Aurora, NY in 1984.  Ms. Danis obtained a Masters of Arts in Education and a sixth-year degree in School Psychology, at the University of Connecticut in 1993.  Her twenty years of public school education experience includes working in the Wolcott, Berlin, and Watertown school districts.  Her training also includes eight years of experience as a behavioral specialist at the Devereux Glenholme School, a residential treatment facility for children with behavioral disorders. 

Currently, Marie is responsible for evaluating student learning profiles, and actively participates in intervention team meetings, as well as, special education meetings.  She also manages the data on student academic progress from our computerized universal screening assessment.  Students have participated in her counseling groups to address anxiety, social skills, and coping skills.  Individual counseling is also provided to those students whose needs are more private or require one to one support. 

Marie is a resident of Torrington.  Her adopted daughter is currently attending Mitchell College in New London, CT, and is majoring in Criminal Justice.  Ms. Danis enjoys knitting, camping, and walking her three dogs when she is not in school.
